Nothing he says is remotely comforting, although I'm not sure what would be. Knowing Jim is okay would be the start of it but even then my feelings are so conflicted about him.

The pressure of the bandage hurts and I inhale sharply with the pain of it, the outside air cool on my teeth. When Hawkeye helps me sit up I start to feel the weight of everything coming together and when he suggests we leave, the panic sinks in.

"No, I say," shaking my head. I'm sure I sound insane to him and I feel bad that he's the one who had to find me. "No, we can't. There's a man out there, he needs our help. We need to contact the Avalon."
